Don Julio 1942 Oscars Promotional Product Custom Bottle

Don Julio 1942

We would like to give a cheer to the custom tiny bottle used during the Oscars ceremony last night.

If you’re a fan of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, you’re probably aware of Guillermo Rodriguez’s fondness for tequila. Don Julio, a top-notch brand, decided to team up with him to add some excitement to the Oscars. Towards the end of the event, they surprised the audience with a spontaneous toast.

Dressed in a stunning gold tuxedo jacket, Rodriguez held a magnificent 750ml bottle of Don Julio 1942 as he raised his cocktail glass. He cheerfully called upon the rest of the audience to raise their own miniature versions of the tequila brand’s sleek brown bottle and join him in a meandering toast. Marketing Genious. And the social media was great on it too,

Don Julio and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have been official partners for seven years, and this year they are bringing a specialty bar experience to the Governors Ball, the official party that follows the ceremony.

Diageo, the company that owns Don Julio, has been collaborating with Kimmel for over ten years. They made a smart move by seizing the opportunity to have him and Rodriguez, who are both known for enjoying a drink on their show, feature in a paid “in-show moment” during the Oscars.

The semi-improvised toast was the first time an advertiser had been brought into one of Kimmel’s in-show bits, according to ADWEEK, which also reported that a Disney Advertising executive called it a “no brainer.”

The campaign also included a traditional 60-second ad spot. As for the tequila itself, the full-size 750ml bottles are in stock nationwide, but the 7-inch, 50ml mini-bottles are only available for presale so far – and posts on social media indicate that they’ll be in high demand.

Do you have a product that could use some custom packaging? We’d love to design and produce some for you.
